Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 177 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had 13 Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Andrew Fleming scored 42 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in leading Oxford Hills to a class AA quarterfinal win over Bangor. Justin Thompson from Schenck high school scored 34 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in a prelim win over PVHS. Thompson was voted runner up.
Other nominatins include Jimmy Buzzell from Hodgdon,Janko Stojanovic from Washington Academy, Bruce St. Peter from Ellsworth, Matt Pushard from Brewer, Nick Gilpin from Hampden,Donovan Savage/Ricky Sheldon,Gabe Massey from Caribou, and Imao Woldring/Keenan Collett/Jake Koffman from Orono.
Down East Limousine male athlete of the week
Andrew Fleming– Oxford Hills- basketball- scored 42 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in 71-47 class AA quarterfinal win over Bangor. Fleming is the first studen/athlete from Oxford Hills to be named athlete of the week.
Runner up
Justin Thompson- Schenck- basketball- recorded 34 points and 10 rebounds in 66-53 class C north prelim win over PVHS.

Jimmy Buzzell- Hodgdon- basketball- scored 27 points in 62-59 class C prelim win over Narraguagus.
Donovan Savage- Caribou- basketball- scored 18 points, including 13 points on 9-10 foul shooting in the fourth quarter, also had five assists in 51-44 quarterfinal win over Washington Academy.
Ricky Sheldon- Caribou- basketball- recorded 15 points, nine rebounds, and three steals in 51-44 quarterfinal win over Washington Academy.
Gabe Massey- Caribou- basketball- scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds in 51-44 quarterfinal win over Washingon Academy.
Janko Stojanovic- Washington Academy- basketball- scored 18 points, including 16 in the second half in 51-44 quarterfinal loss to Caribou.
Bruce St. Peter – Ellsworth- basketball- recorded 15 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists in 56-28 class B quarterfinal win over MCI.
Imao Woldring- Orono- basketball- scored 13 points in 61-50 class B quarterfinal win over MDI.
Keenan Collett- Orono- basketball- scored 11 points and pulled down five rebounds in 61-50 class B quarterfinal win over MDI.
Jake Koffman- Orono- basketball- recorded 11 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals in 61-50 class B quarterfinal win over MDI.
Matt Pushard- Brewer- basketball- scored 19 points and pulled down 18 rebounds in 50-34 class A quarterfinal win over Gardiner.
Nick Gilpin – Hampden- basketball- scored 34 points in 63-47 class A north quarterfinal win over Skowhegan.
