Barnes leads Thomas to quarterfinal win to set up semifinal showdown with Husson

The Thomas Terriers men’s basketball team went on an 18-0 run in the first  half to break open a close game and cruise to an 83-65 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) quarterfinal victory over Castleton on Tuesday night at Thomas college.

Levi Barnes scored 26 points to lead the Terriers. Barnes shot 7-12 from the field (4-5 three point FG), and 8-8 from the free throw line. Adam Carlson scored 14 points, while Mike Akanji (11) and Carlos Gonzalez (10) combined for 21 rebounds. The Terriers outrebounded Castleton 45-26.

Thomas will next play the top seed and host team Husson in a semifinal game Friday night. Number three seed Johnson State needed to rally from a 17 point halftime deficit to grab a 91-87 victory over sixth seeded Lyndon State on Tuesday night. They advanced to play second seed Colby-Sawyer in a semifinal game on Friday night.
