College Hockey Picks- Playoffs week 3

March 18, 2016

Last week I went 4-3 and this week it’s onto the Hockey East Semifinals and finals at TD Garden. I will also pick the semis and finals of the Big Ten conference.

Last week 4-3 Season 56-26-10

Friday, March 18th

Providence vs UMass-Lowell

This game smells like overtime. Both teams playing good hockey at the right time and both teams are NCAA tournament bound.

The pick- Providence 3, UMass-Lowell 2 (ot)

Northeastern vs Boston College

Nobody playing better right now than the Northeastern Huskies. BC has a rich tradition in this tournament and basically playing a home game. Northeastern doesn’t have the RPI to make the NCAA tourney with a loss this weekend so they are fighting for their lives.

The pick- Northeastern has been best team in country  since January and that carries them to the final. Northeastern 4, BC 3

Penn State vs Michigan

The Wolverines and Nittany Lions face off for a shot at the Big 10 title Saturday night.

The pick- I love the Wolverines in this spot with their previous experience. Michigan 4, Penn St 2

Ohio State vs Minnesota

These teams are pretty evenly matched and once again I smell an overtime game.

The pick- I will take the Gophers to advance to play the Wolverines. Minnesota 3, OSU 2 (ot)

Saturday, March 19th

Hockey East title game

Providence vs Northeastern

Huskies and Friars for bragging rights of Hockey East.

The pick- Northeastern playing too well. They get the at large tourney bid. Northeastern 3, Providence 1

Big 10 title game

Michigan vs Minnesota

Wolverines and Gophers renew their rivalry in the title game.

The pick- Both teams are experienced, flip a coin on this one but I will stay with the Wolverines. Michigan 5, Minnesota 3
