The University of Maine softball team ended their run to the NCAA Regionals on Saturday by falling 10-1 to Oklahoma State at Athens, Georgia. Coupled with a 6-0 loss to Georgia on Friday Maine ends their season at 28-21.
Janelle Bouchard ended her senior season for Maine going 2 for 3 and knocking in the first ever run the Black Bears have scored in a regional game.
Erika Leonard and Alyssa Derrick also had hits for Maine who was making their first tournament appearance since 2004.
Tiffany Mikkelson had a three run homer and a two run single for five RBI to lead the Oklahoma State Cowgirls (30-25).
Molly Flowers (11-11) took the loss in the circle for Maine going 2.1 innings allowing four earned runs on five hits. Annie Kennedy pitched an inning giving up three earned runs on three hits and Erin Bogdonavich pitched the final 3.2 innings as she allowed two earned runs on six hits.
Oklahoma State advanced to the Regional Final round as they defeated Northwestern 3-2 Saturday evening in another elimination game. The Cowgirls will have to defeat the home hosts Georgia Bulldogs (42-17) twice on Sunday in order to claim the Regional Title.
