Field Hockey wins, Soccer loses to finish up weekend UMaine action

The University of Maine Field Hockey team scored a win Saturday afternoon at Boston University, in a neutral site non conference game, by a score of 6-0 over University of California-Davis.

Maine, who lost their first game Friday afternoon to nationally ranked Boston University, improved to 5-1 on the year.

Casey Crowley scored a hat trick with three goals for the Bears. Madison Cummings, Lilly Reidl and Samantha Wagg also scored for Maine.

Emily Corbett started in goal and earned the win. Emma Cochran played the second half as the Bears dropped UC-Davis to 1-4 on the season.

Maine returns home Friday to host Bryant. Game time is 4 p.m at the Maine Field Hockey Complex.

 

 

The University of Maine Womens Soccer team stayed in Rhode Island on Sunday after a Friday evening win over Bryant, but would fall Sunday afternoon to the University of Rhode Island by a score of 2-0.

The two teams stayed scoreless until just over the 70 minute mark of the game when the Rams got a goal by Taylor Ross. URI (2-3-2) padded the lead just under 13 minutes later when Ross struck again to finish off the scoring and dropped Maine to a 4-3-0 overall record.

Maine only managed three shots on goal in the game.

Maine now gets a break to prepare for conference play. Maine will host the University of Vermont on Sunday, September 25th at Mahaney Diamond at 1 p.m. in the America East opener.
