DEXTER—Chandler Rockwell scored three goals, including the game winner with 3:56 remaining in the second overtime to lift the Foxcroft Ponies boys soccer team to a 5-4 win over Dexter on Saturday morning.
Rockwell got the scoring started for the Ponies with 19:16 remaining in the first half. The Tigers controlled the rest of the half. Matthew Richards evened the score with 14:44 remaining in the half. They took the lead when Isaiah Hesseltine set up Richards on a beautiful throw in with 2:26 remaining in the half. Jonathan Lane gave the Tigers a 3-1 halftime advantage.
Rockwell scored the first goal of the second half just 6:15 after the half. Ryan Cary evened the score with 19:22 remaining, Cary gave the Ponies a 4-3 lead with 16:08 remaining.
Richards completed a hat trick with just over 12 minutes remaining. That evened the score. The goalie play of Matthew Hanscome sent the game into overtime. Foxcroft outshot Dexter 27-7, including 21-1 in the second half. Hanscome finished with 11 saves. Dexter (1-9) will host Central on Thursday.
Rockwell finished the game on an assist from Jason Eubanks. Andrew Miles finished with three saves in goal for the Ponies. Foxcroft (5-4-1)will host PCHS on Wednesday. For the high school soccer scoreboard click here.
