After a very sluggish start I was able of bounce back last week to even my record for the season. This weekend it is another ECAC opponent for Maine as they travel to Colgate. I also pick the front end of a two game series between the #1 and #2 teams in the country, and I will also try to project a contest involving Maines next opponent, the BC Eagles.

Last weeks record 3-0-1 Season record 5-5-2

Last weeks results:

Friday, October 21

Maine 3, Miami-Ohio 3 tied pick

UMass-Lowell 5, St Lawrence 2 correct pick

Saturday, October 22

Miami-Ohio 5, Maine 0 correct pick

Boston University 3, Quinnipiac correct pick

This weeks games:

Friday, October 28

Maine (3-2-1) at Colgate (0-3-2)

Maine has started the season pretty solidly, almost to half the wins as they had in the entire 2015-16 season. The Bears captured a tie at Miami-Ohio last weekend on Friday night before falling 5-0 Saturday. The Red Raiders still seek their first win after getting swept by scores of 4-3 and 5-2 at Merrimack last weekend.

The pick- Maine has seemed to start fast and play better in Friday night games thus far and I will stay with them here. Maine 4, Colgate 2

#1 North Dakota (5-0-0) at #2 Minnesota-Duluth (3-1-2)

A big time matchup of the top two teams in the poll this week as the Fighting Hawks visit the Bulldogs for the start of a NCHC two game series. North Dakota slipped past #18 Bemidji State 3-2 and 5-4 last weekend at home. The Bulldogs lost their last countable game on 10/15 by a 3-1 score to Notre Dame. Minnesota-Deluth lost an exhibition game last weekend 2-1 to the USA Under 18 Development Team.

The pick- Very tough game of pick as both teams are very solid and should be at the top of the polls all year. I will take the home team here, just a hunch. Minnesota-Deluth 3, North Dakota 2

Saturday, October 29

Maine at Colgate

Maine seeks their second sweep of the season but very hard to do given the struggles this team has had on the road.

The pick- Colgate picks up their first win in a gritty defense battle. Colgate 2, Maine 1

#8 Boston College (4-2-1) at Massachusetts (2-2-0)

The Eagles play their third Hockey East game of the year while the Minutemen play their second. BC beat Holy Cross 6-1 last Saturday, before tying 2-2 at Merrimack Tuesday night. UMass won last Friday night at home 3-2 over Army, before falling to #6 Quinnipiac 3-2 on Tuesday night on the road.

The pick- Both teams are scheduled to play different Hockey East opponents Friday night as well as BC visits Providence and UMass hosts UNH. I think the Eagles are better conditioned for this early season matchup and should roll past the Minutemen.  BC 5, UMass 1
