The University of Maine Football team takes their four game winning streak back on the road Saturday at 3:30 p.m., when they invade Zable Stadium in Williamsburg, Virginia to battle William and Mary in a huge Colonial Athletic Association Conference game.
Maine (4-3, 3-1 CAA) is being led by quarterback Dan Collins. Collins is 102-198 passing, 1502 yards, 12 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Tailback Josh Mack has carried the ball 59 times, for 368 yards, and four touchdowns. Wideout Micah Wright has turned into a big time playmaker and has 24 receptions, for 381 yards, and four touchdowns. Jaleel Reed had also hauled in 18 receptions, for 321 yards, and three touchdowns. Maine has had some trouble in the kicking game as Patrick Leonard has only connected on 1-5 on field goals, while Derek Deoul is 0-1 in limited time.
Defensively, Christophe Mulumba Tshimanga is leading the way with 42 solo tackles (64 total) and two sacks. Jason Matovu also has 36 total tackles (52 total), a half sack and also one interception. Darius Hart leads the secondary with 31 total tackles and three interceptions. The “Black Hole” defense came up with five interceptions in last Saturdays 28-21 win at Rhode Island, including one by Matovu in the endzone as time expired.
William and Mary (3-4, 1-3), broke a three game losing streak last Saturday by defeating Delaware 24-17 on homecoming weekend at Williamsburg.
The Tribe is being led by their quarterback Steve Cluley. Cluley is 112-188 passing, 1233 yards, six touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Cluley has also rushed 47 times, for 136 yards, and three scores. Kendell Anderson leads the backfield with 107 carries, 521 yards, three touchdowns. Albert Funderburke also has 39 rushes, 294 yards, and four touchdowns. Wide receiver Devonte Dedmon has 29 catches, 437 yards, and four touchdowns.
Defensively, the Tribe is led by Stephen Lubnow who has 34 solo tackles (59 total), and Nate Adkins who has 27 solo tackles (52 total). Corey Parker leads the secondary with three interceptions.
The Husson University Football team looks to extend their six game winning streak when they travel to face Becker College Saturday at 12 noon in a Eastern Collegiate Football Conference game at Alumni Field in Leicester, Massachusetts.
Husson (6-1, 4-0 ECFC) has averaged 39 points per game and nearly 500 yards of offense per outing. (483.9) The Eagles also possess the top defense in all Division 3 football only allowing 15 points a game and 160 total yards.
The Eagles set school records in last weeks 42-0 home win over Anna Maria, allowing just 37 total yards while churning up 708 yards of total offense.
Quarterback Cory Brandon is 92-157 passing, 1360 yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions. Running back John Smith is once again having an outstanding season. Smith has rushed 185 times, for 1231 yards, and nine touchdowns. The receiving trio of Deon Wiggins, Robenson Saintard, and Kadeem Edge have combined for 43 receptions, 857 yards, and 14 touchdowns.
On defense, Ellis Throckmorton has 26 solo tackles (47 total), 4.5 sacks, and also one interception. Luke Washburn has 17 solo tackles (37 total), and 8.5 sacks.
Becker (2-5, 1-3) have lost three games in a row, including a close 23-19 loss at Mount Ida last Saturday. The Mustangs are averaging 19.6 points a game and 258 yards offensively per contest. The Becker defense is allowing 305 yards to their opponents along with 22.3 points.
