Ernie Gerrish guided the Penobscot Valley High School (PVHS) to the class D Northern Maine regional championship this past season. Gerrish announced on the PVHS baseball Facebook page on Friday night that he is stepping down as coach of the Howlers.
Gerrish said in the post that – “I always knew that this day would come. I just don’t think I ever really expected it to happen.I have made the decision, based on some changes with my job, that I will not be returning to PVHS as the coach of the Howlers Baseball team in 2017.”
Gerrish stated that he wanted to help win a championship for the school and leave the program better than he found it. He did both of those things. For the full statement from Gerrish click here.
