2016/17 Mattanawcook Academy Girls Basketball

2015/16 Record: 8-11 (Lost to Ellsworth in a preliminary game)

Expectations: Lost two key seniors to graduation. Returning 3 starters. We expect to be in the middle of the pack in Class B. Our goal is to improve as the season goes along and make the post season.

Strengths: Youthful, scrappy and can get up and down the court. Defense is critical, we have to make teams turn the ball over and capitalize on it. We must utilize our speed. Returning 8 players that saw varsity minutes last season, so we will have a bit of experience on the court. We have a solid bench and should be able to go 10-12 deep.

Challenges: As was the case last season, the lack of size will be our major challenge. We will be out sized in pretty much every match-up. We need to be fundamentally sound in rebounding the basketball. Keeping teams off the foul line is also very important for us.

Key Players/Positions:

Courtney Gordon (Sr.) Point Guard.
Emily Tolman (Soph) Guard/Forward
Katie Tolman (Soph) Guard/Forward
Kimberlee Voisine (Jun) Guard/Forward
Natalie Tilton (Jun) Forward/Center
