Maine Mens Basketball drops home contest Wednesday night

Khalen Cumberlander scored 13 points Wednesday night to lead the visiting Blue Devils from Central Connecticut State University to a 17 point first half lead, en route to an 82-61 win over Maine in NCAA Mens basketball action at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

CCSU (2-3) put four players in double figures as Mustafa Jones, Austin Nehls, and Tyson Batiste all scored 12 points each.

Maine (2-5) was led by Andrew Fleming who had 20 points and eight rebounds. Ilker Er also chipped in 11 points.

The Black Bears got into a 17 point halftime hole at 41-24 by only shooting 32 percent from the floor in the first half, compared to 61 percent for the Blue Devils. For the game Maine shot just under 40 percent, while CCSU finished a sizzling 59 percent from the floor and 10-14 from the three point arc.

Maine will face another team of Blue Devils on Saturday when they travel to Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina to play #5 Duke at 5:30 p.m. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN 2 TV. CCSU returns home Saturday to host Brown at 1 p.m.
