Husson basketball sweeps NAC doubleheader Saturday

The Husson University Eagles basketball teams both were in action Saturday at home in Bangor taking on Colby-Sawyer in a NAC doubleheader.

On the womens side, Husson remained unbeaten in NAC play with a 90-71 win.

Darla Morales led the Eagles with 24 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Chandler Guerrette had 18 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Kenzie Worcester also chipped in 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Husson is now 16-1 overall and 12-0 in conference.

Colby-Sawyer was led by Amanda Calvo who had a game high 27 points to go along with six rebounds, five steals, and four assists. Lexi Iannone chipped in 10 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. The Chargers fall to 13-6 overall and 8-4 in NAC play.

Next up for Husson is a road contest at Lyndon State next Friday at 7:30 p.m.

 

In the mens contest, the Eagles secured a Husson sweep on the day with a 98-90 victory.

Raheem Anderson had 37 points, 11 assists, four rebounds, and three steals. Anderson also nailed his 200th career three-pointer in the game, only the fourth Husson player to ever reach that pleateau. The Eagles put four players overall in double figures, as Justin Martin and Eli Itken had 12 a piece and Mitch Worcester chipped in 10. Husson goes to 12-5 overall and 10-2 in the conference.

Colby Sawyer also put four players in double figures led by Jourdain Bell. Bell had 34 points, eight assists, six rebounds, and a steal. Dana Bean had 16, Patrick Coffey 13, and Milani Hicks 10. The Chargers drop to 8-11, 5-7 NAC.

Husson returns to action Tuesday when they visit Bowdoin. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
