Bryce Gilbert earns third McGuire Seasonal Services male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 209 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had eight Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Bryce Gilbert averaged 25.7 points, eight rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 3.5 steals in three games, helping the PCHS to a 2-1 week. It is the third athlete of the week honor for Gilbert. He also hit the game winning free throws with 6.6 seconds left in a Pirates win over Dexter.

McGuire Seasonal Services male athlete of the week

Bryce Gilbert- PCHS- basketball- scored 21 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter plus two free throws with 6.6 seconds remaining and also added 11 rebounds, and three assists in 40-38 win over Dexter. Recorded 35 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, and four steals in 60-39 win over Penquis. Recorded 21 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals in 78-53 loss to Orono.

Runner up

Justin Thompson- Schenck- basketball- recorded 30 points, eight rebounds, and one dunk in 70-25 win over Stearns. Recorded 37 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, and two blocks in 76-36 win over PVHS.

Other nominations

Taylor Schildroth- George Stevens – basketball- scored 28 points in 96-56 win over Sumner.Scored 20 points in 73-66 win over Lee. Scored 25 points, including going over 1000 career points in 75-42 win over Penquis.

Keenan Marseille- Hermon- basketball- scored 27 points in 61-46 win over Foxcroft.

James Mesereau- Machias- basketball- scored 22 points in 55-45 win over Bangor Christian.

Connor Robertson- Orono- basketball- scored 24 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in 78-53 win over PCHS.

Nate Desisto- Orono- basketball- recorded 19 points, five rebounds, and five assists in 78-53 win over PCHS.

Kyle Case- Washington Academy- basketball- had 20 points in loss to John Bapst. Recorded 28 points, four assists, and three steals in win over Narraguagus. Had 12 points and four steals in win over Calais. Case is near the top of the scoring leaders in the big east.
