Grace Bickford leads balanced Foxcroft attack in win over Dexter

DOVER-FOXCROFT— Grace Bickford scored 11 of her game high 13 points in the first half to help the Foxcroft Academy girls basketball team get a 36-21 victory over Dexter on Friday evening.

Foxcroft held a 9-1 lead after the first quarter. The Tigers scored the first six points of the second quarter to cut the deficit to 9-7. The Ponies scored the final seven points of the quarter to build the lead to 16-7 heading into halftime.

Emily Mikoud scored six points in the third quarter as the Ponies outscored Dexter 10-7 to build the lead to 26-14 heading into the final quarter. Foxcroft closed out the victory by holding the Tigers to one field goal in the final quarter.

Megan Peach and Kayli Cunningham scored nine points each for the Tigers. Peach also pulled down 12 rebounds, Cunningham recorded six rebounds and four steals. Abby Webber chipped in with two points, while Kaylee Deering made one free throw. Dexter (10-6) will travel to Bucksport on Monday.

Abi Simpson filled up the stat sheet with eight points, 10 rebounds, five assists, three steals, and one block. Mikoud had seven points, seven rebounds, and two blocks. Mackenzie Beaudry and Alli Bourget had four points each. Bickford added four rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Foxcroft  (13-3) will host Orono on Monday.

Foxcroft shot 3-10 from the free throw line, while the Tigers shot 11-26. The Ponies out rebounded Dexter 30-24.
