Hermon girls basketball holds off Winslow in class B quarterfinal clash

BANGOR– Lauren Plissey pulled down 14 rebounds, dished out four assists, and had four blocks. It was her four free throws that made the biggest impact in lifting Hermon to a 35-33 win over Winslow in a class B quarterfinal win on Friday afternoon.

Plissey went 4-4 from the free throw line in the final quarter, including making two with 15.1 seconds remaining. The teams went back and forth with the largest lead being four.

Other than Plissey, the Hawks shot 2-9 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Emi Higgins led Hermon with 13 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. Madyson Curtis came up big in the second half. She scored seven points, all in the final 16 minutes. Maddie Pullen and Paige Plissey chipped in with two points each. Hermon (15-4) will play a Maine Principals’ Association class B North semifinal game on Wednesday at 8:35 PM against Houlton or MDI.

Claire LeClair led the Black Raiders with 14 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Heather Kervin added 13 points, five rebounds, and two steals. SIlver Clukey, Paige Trask, and Haley Ward scored three, two, and one respectively. Winslow finishes the season with a 17-3 record.
