The Red Sox will be without at least one of their key players over the weekend in Detroit.
Starting shortstop was place on bereavement leave and Marco Hernandez will take his spot on the roster. Bogaerts is expected to miss three games in Detroit and be back for the series finale on Monday afternoon at 1:05 PM.
Matt Barnes was also placed on bereavement leave with Noe Ramirez taking his spot on the roster. Barnes is expected back for Sunday’s game at 1:05 PM against the Tigers.
Mookie Betts missed Wednesday’s night 3-0 Red Sox win over the Pittsburgh Pirates due to the flu. His status for Friday’s 1:05 PM game against the Tigers is still uncertain. Brock Holt also was unavailable on Wednesday night, but will be available on Friday according to manager John Farrell. Holt will most likely get the starts at shortstop over the weekend.
