Judge and Severino too much as Sox fall to Yanks in series opener

April 26, 2017

The Boston Red Sox rallied in the ninth inning but it wasn’t enough as they fell to the New York Yankees 3-1 at Fenway Park on Wednesday night.

Rick Porcello only allowed two earned runs in 6.2 innings. Luis Severino outdueled Porcello. Severino pitched seven shutout innings, allowing only three hits for the Yankees. Porcello allowed five hits and four walks, while striking out nine.

Aaron Judge did most of the damage for the Yankees. He crushed a two run opposite field homer. Judge also made an outstanding catch down the right field line.

Mookie Betts recorded two of the Red Sox four hits.
