Temple Academy coasts past Highview in Class D softball Friday

WATERVILLE- The Temple Academy softball team was outhit 6-4 on Friday afternoon, but a total of 20 walks from the visiting Knights of Highview Christian Academy was enough to propel the Bereans to a mercy rule shortened six inning 18-6 win in Class D action at Thomas College.

Javona Philbrick took the loss in the circle for the Knights, allowing 14 walks in four innings. Delayni Carr got the win going six innings, and only allowed two runs after a four run top of the first for Highview. Temple scored seven times in the home half of the sixth to end the game.

Cassidy Lessner led the Highview (0-2) offense. Lessner was 2-2, with a pair of singles, two RBI, two walks, and three runs scored. Temple improves to 2-2.

Highview will play host to Jonesport-Beals for a doubleheader Monday beginning at 2:30 p.m., while Temple will host Valley on Monday at 4 p.m.
