The University of Maine softball team will open America East tournament play on Thursday at 1:30 PM. They will apparently do so without two of their key players. According to Jon Alba from WVII/Fox 22, Rachel Harvey and Annie Kennedy have been suspended for two seperate incidents at the Orono House of Pizza on Saturday night.

Harvey is the second leading hitter on the team with a .311 average. Harvey has two homers and 20 RBI. She has been starting catcher in all 39 games this season.  Kennedy has a 5-3 record with a 4.05 ERA in 24 games, including five starts in the circle for the Black Bears.

The conference will begin on Wednesday at Binghamton with Albany and UMBC getting things started at 11 AM. Stony Brook and Hartford will play Wednesday at 1:30. The Black Bears will play the winner of that game on Thursday.  Click here for the full double elimination conference tournament schedule.
