Kimbrel closes the door in Red Sox series opener win over Yankees

The Boston Red Sox hit three home runs and held on for a 5-4 win over the New York Yankees at Yankee stadium on Tuesday night. 

Mitch Moreland, Hanley Ramirez, and Andrew Benintendi each hit a homer. Moreland and Ramirez went back to back in the fourth inning. 

Craig Kimbrel came into the game in the eighth inning and locked down the victory by striking out five, including Aaron Judge to end he game. 

Drew Pomeranz got the win by allowing two runs (one earned) in five innings. He threw 123 pitches (72 strikes).

The Red Sox are now within one game of the Yankees at the top of the American League East. Game two of the series will be Wednesday night.
