When the University of Maine Black Bears and UNH Wildcats tee up the football for “Thursday night throwdown” at Wildcat Stadium in Durham, NH, Eastern Maine Sports will have you covered.
Chris Lessner will be following live from Durham as the Bears and Cats get ready to renew their rivalry in the 108th meeting all time. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
UNH has dominated the series of late winning seven straight contests and appearing in the playoffs 13 straight years. UNH ended Maines playoff chances with a 24-21 win at Orono on the last week of the season last November.
Maine will rely on freshman quarterback Chris Ferguson, a heavy dose of running the ball, and the “Black Hole defense”, which is always towards the top of the league statistically. UNH will start junior Trevor Knight at quarterback, and former York and Cheverus High standout senior captain Donald Goodrich at running back. Goodrich won the Fitzpatrick tropy for the best player in the state his senior year of high school. Along side Goodrich in the backfield, will be senior tailback Jerickson Fedrick, who spend the first two years at Maine before transferring to UNH.
