Hunt has record breaking game in leading Chiefs to win over Patriots in season opener

Kareem Hunt’s NFL career didn’t start well when he fumbled on his first touch. 

Hunt put that behind him quickly as he set a record by totaling 246 yards in his debut. Hunt rushed for 148 yards and one touchdown in leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a 42-27 win over the Patriots in the season opener at Foxboro. Hunt added 98 receiving yards and two more touchdowns.

The Patriots held a 17-14 halftime lead and a 27-21 lead after the third quarter. The Chiefs scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, including two from Hunt.

Alex Smith threw for four touchdowns and 368 yards on 28-25 passing. 

Tom Brady threw for 267 yards on 16-36 passing. Mike Gillislee had three rushing touchdowns for the Patriots.
