The Penquis girls soccer team started last week on the outside of the tournament picture. One week later, the Patriots are fifth in the Maine Principals’ Association class C heal point standings, with a legitimate chance to get in the top four and host a quarterfinal game.
The Patriots started the week with a 2-5 record. They defeated PCHS 6-0, Dexter 8-4, and Central 2-1 to cap off a week that boosted Penquis into contention.
The Patriots were missing players throughout the season due to a variety of reasons. Last Monday against PCHS was their first game with a full roster. The wins over Dexter and Central lifted Penquis to the number five spot. The Tigers and Red Devils have seven wins each and sit third and fourth respectively in the class C standings.
Penquis still has a lot of heal points left on the schedule. They have games left with class D North top seed PVHS, class D south top seed Greenville, Mattanawcook who has four wins, and this Thursday they host Schenck who is 5-5.
Cymeria Robshaw and Camryn Rolfe power the Patriots offensive attack. Katelyn Bolstridge has had an excellent season in goal behind a strong defense.
