Brady, defense lead Patriots to third straight win

October 22, 2017

Tom Brady threw for a pair of touchdown passes, and the Patriots defense limited the Atlanta Falcons to a very late touchdown, as New England rolled to a 23-7 win at Gillette Stadium on Sunday night in a rematch of Super Bowl 51.

Brady was 21-29 for 249 yards and threw second quarter touchdowns to Brandon Cooks and James White, as the Patriots (5-2) built a 17-0 halftime lead and never looked back in winning their third straight game. Kyle Van Noy had seven tackles, and Malcolm Butler had six tackles to lead the defense.

Matt Ryan led Atlanta (3-3), going 23-33 for 233 yards and a touchdown. Ryan found Julio Jones for a score with just four minutes left in the game. The Falcons have now lost three straight.

New England will stay at home and host the Los Angeles Chargers next Sunday at 1 p.m.
