NEWPORT– Tanner Stegner scored 19 points, including nine in the fourth quarter to lift the Bucksport Bucks to a 53-46 win a preseason game at Nokomis on Thursday night.
Nokomis built a lead to 13 (29-16) after a 9-0 run in the second quarter. The Bucks ended the first half on a 9-2 run to cut the deficit to 31-25 at halftime.
Nokomis held a 38-36 lead going into the fourth quarter. Cam Grindle nailed a three pointer to give the Bucks a 39-38 lead early in the fourth quarter. Stegner made consecutive baskets, including a three pointer that capped an 8-0 run as the Bucks built the advantage to 44-38. Bucksport went on a 9-0 run later in the quarter.
Stegner scored 15 points (3 three pointers) in the second half. Tyson Gray recorded 13 points and six rebounds. Chase Carmichael filled up the stat sheet with eight points, six rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Logan Stanley finished with eight points and three steals.
Josh Smestad scored 18 points (all in the first half), including 4 three pointers to lead the Warriors. Josh Perry added 13 points (3 three pointers).
