Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 242 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had four Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Bryce Gilbert filled up the stat sheet in leading the Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) Pirates to a win over Schenck in their season opener. It is the fifth athlete of the week honor for Gilbert.
Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week
Bryce Gilbert- PCHS- basketball- recorded 24 points, 10 rebounds, eight steals, and seven assists in 64-39 win over Schenck.
Runner up
Cameron Kane- PCHS – basketball- recorded 20 points (4 three pointers), six rebounds, and two assists in 64-39 win over Schenck.

Nick Brewer-Houlton- basketball- scored 21 points in 63-49 win over Central Aroostook.
Cooper Wirkala- Oceanside- basketball- scored 19 points in 54-40 win over Waterville.
