Husson mens basketball splits in Florida

The Husson Eagles mens basketball went 1-1 during their trip to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to compete in the Trip Sports Cruzin’ Classic on Sunday and Monday evening.

On Sunday, Raheem Anderson had 19 points to lead the Eagles past St Mary’s out of Maryland 83-69.

DJ Bussey came off the bench to pour 18 in the Eagles win, while Justin Martin had 11 and Cole Thomas 10 as Husson went to 7-1. Darick Kerns had 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Matt Ayoub also had 12 for 2-8 St Mary’s.

On Monday, Anderson was at it again pouring in 34 more points, but this time it wasn’t enough as Simpson College knocked off the Eagles 88-82.

Anderson also added four rebounds, four assists, and three steals for 7-2 Husson. Mitch Worcester added 16 points, as the Eagles shot 45 percent from the floor, but Simpson shot a sizzling 56 percent.

Sam Amsbaugh had 30 points, seven rebounds, and six assists to lead Simpson (4-6) to the win.

Husson gets back into conference play after the Christmas break, as they travel to Castine to battle Maine Maritime Academy January 6th at 3 p.m.
