Caribou rallies for win over MDI girls to highlight Wednesday’s high school basketball action

The Caribou Vikings girls basketball team overcame a fourth quarter deficit and handed Mount Desert Island (MDI) their first loss of the season. Caribou outscored the Trojans 22-7 in the fourth quarter and earned a 67-56 win. The Vikings had four players finish in double figures.

In other girls basketball action on Wednesday, Dexter outscored Bucksport 11-0. in the second overtime to defeat the Bucks 57-46.

MCI and John Bapst picked up wins to remain undefeated. The Huskies and Crusaders will meet Friday night at the Cross Insurance Center.

Emily Wheaton scored 26 points to help Presque Isle defeat Ellsworth 72-50. The Wildcats remain undefeated.

Central and Houlton stay undefeated in class C. The Red Devils rolled to a win over Searsport, while the Shires handed Stearns their first loss.

In boys basketball action, Camden Hills defeated Gardiner 70-66. It was the first win for the Windjammers and first loss for the Tigers.

Bangor picked up a 68-63 win over Hampden.
