Maine runs past Boston College

The University of Maine womens basketball team finished up their non-conference in impressive fashion Thursday night, rolling to a 61-40 win over ACC opponent Boston College at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

Maine (7-6), played well in the first half but held just a nine point lead, 29-20 at halftime.

The Bears turned it up in the third quarter, starting with a 12-0 run to increase the lead to 21 at 41-20. Maine outscored BC 24-6 in the quarter and led 53-26 headed to the fourth. The lead was as many as 32 in the final 10 minutes, before a late run by Boston College (5-8), provided the final 21 point margin.

Blanca Millan led Maine with 18 points and seven rebounds. Julie Brosseau added 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Tanesha Sutton fell one point short of a double double with nine points and 11 rebounds. Emma Guy had 12 points and 13 rebounds for Boston College.

Maine prepares for America East conference play as they will host Stony Brook Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
