Jessica Fequiere scored a career high 35 points to lead the Albany Great Danes womens basketball team to a 68-54 win over Maine at SEFCU Arena in Albany, New York on Saturday afternoon.
In a tight first half, Maine was able to hold a slight 35-32 halftime edge, behind 15 points from Blanca Millan and 10 from Tanesha Sutton. The Bears scored the first four points of the third quarter to take their biggest lead at 39-32. Albany ended the third quarter on a 13-2 run, and held a 50-44 advantage headed to the fourth.
Albany (14-3, 3-1 America East), led by as many as 16 as the Great Danes won for the 10th time in 11 games. Fequiere added eight rebounds on 11-17 shooting (5-6 three point). Tianna Jo Carter, the Maine native, added 12 points.
Maine (9-8, 2-2), was led by Millan who finished with 19 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Sutton added 12 points and five rebounds, while Dor Saar chipped in 11 points and four assists.
Maine will host Vermont on Monday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center at 1 p.m.
