Maine women pick up big conference win

Maine put three starters in double figures Thursday night to pick up a 59-44 America East womens basketball win over Hartford at Chase Family Arena in West Hartford, Connecticut.

Maine has now won six overall against Hartford, and eight in a row on the road at Hartford.

Maine jumped out early to a 12-4 lead after one quarter and led 27-18 at the half. The Bears led by as many as 19 in improving to 11-8 overall, 4-2 America East.

Blanca Millan had 15 point and five rebounds to lead the way for Maine. Tanesha Sutton had 14 points, four rebounds, and four steals. Dor Saar finished with 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Maine outrebounded Hartford 37-24, including 17 offensive rebounds. The Bears only had nine turnovers.

Darby Lee led Hartford with 16 points. Alexia Douglas added 11 points. The Hawks fall to 12-7, 4-2.

Maine returns to action next Wednesday night with a showdown on the road at New Hampshire at 7 p.m. The game can be seen live on ESPN 3.
