BINGHAM— Kendra Sweet scored 23 points, 14 in the first half Thursday evening, to lead the Valley Cavaliers to a 35-26 girls Class D South basketball win over Highview Christian Academy.
Highview Christian scored the first two points of the game to hold their only lead. Valley held a 9-8 lead after one quarter, and 21-16 at halftime. The Cavaliers led by as many as seven in first half.
The Knights from Charleston got within three in the third quarter, but Valley scored the last three points of the third quarter, and the first six of the fourth to take a 12 point lead. Highview never got closer than nine the rest of the way.
Highview (2-8), was led by senior forward Cassidy Lessner who had 10 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Megan McDonald added eight points and seven rebounds.
Sweet added six rebounds, two steals, and four blocks for 4-7 Valley.
Both teams have home games Friday at 5:30 p.m., as Highview hosts Vinalhaven and Valley hosts Rangeley.
