BANGOR – The Hermon Hawks had three players finish with at least 10 rebounds as they rolled to a 67-40 victory over Belfast in a Maine Principals’ Association class B boys quarterfinal game played Saturday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Hawks out rebounded the Lions 56-14. Hermon went on an 18-0 run that extended into the second quarter and never looked back. Belfast went on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 21-13. That would be the last time the Hermon lead was below double digits.
Stanley Sturgis led the Lions with 13 points. Belfast finishes the season with a 9-11 record.
Jacob Godfrey led a trio of Hawks with a double-double. He had 15 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists. Keenan Marseille and Cody Hawes also had double-doubles. Marseille had 10 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists, including three dunks during the Hawks big first half run. Hawes recorded 10 points, 10 rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Isaac Varney has 12 points. Hermon (19-0) will take on Winslow in a semifinal game on Wednesday night.
