Strong second half propels Hermon past Caribou

BANGOR,Me- The Hermon Hawks outscored Caribou 34-14 in the second half Saturday afternoon, to propel them to a 59-36 Class B girls quarterfinal win at the Cross Insurance Center.

Caribou (9-11), scored the first basket of the game to take their only lead. A pair of 6-0 runs in the third quarter, and a 9-0 run to start the fourth quarter broke the game open after the top seeded Hawks held a slim 25-22 haltime lead.

Lauren Plissey led all scorers with 17 points for 17-2 Hermon. Grace Page added 11 points and seven rebounds. Gabryelle Chasse, Madisyn Curtis, and Caitlynn Tracy all chipped in six points a piece. The Hawks will face Presque Isle in the semifinals Wednesday.

Paige Espling had 10 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks for Caribou. Searra Herbert and Gabrielle Marquis added nine points a piece.
