Hermon pulls away late in semifinal win over Winslow

BANGOR- Keenan Marseille scored 18 points to lead the Hermon Hawks boys basketball team to a 57-32 win over Winslow in a Maine Principals’ Association class B semifinal game played Wednesday night at the Cross Insurance Center.

The Hawks scored the first six points and never trailed. They built the lead to 17-3 at the end of the first quarter. They scored the first points of the second quarter to make it 19-3. Winslow went on a 7-0 run during the quarter to cut the deficit to 24-13 late in the first half.

Winslow went on a 10-0 run to start the second half. The Hawks followed that with a 14-0 run that extended into the fourth quarter and gave them a comfortable 17 point lead.

Colby Pomeroy scored 11 points to lead the Black Raiders. Jackson Morneault and Jake Lapierre put in six points each. Winslow shot 6-9 from the free throw line. Pomeroy and Lapierre each made two 3-pointers. Winslow finishes the season with a 16-4 record.

Garrett Trask put in 10 points for the Hawks. Joel Bergeron and Jacob Godfrey scored six points each. Godfrey pulled down seven rebounds. Isaac Varney recorded five points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Jordan Bishop, Tyler Hawes, and Cody Hawes added four points each. Cody Hawes also had three assist and a game high nine rebounds for a Hawks squad that out rebounded Winslow 32-17. Varney, Trask, and Bergeron each made two 3-pointers. Hermon (20-0) will face MDI in the regional final at 3:45 on Saturday.
