Maine women to battle for regular season conference title today

The University of Maine Black Bears will host Albany this afternoon at 1 p.m. in the regular season finale, and a shot at grabbing the #1 seed for the conference tournament in Portland next weekend and the America East regular season title.

Albany (23-5, 12-3 in America East) are led by the one two punch of Jessica Fequiere and Maine native Tiana-Jo Carter. Fequiere is averaging 17.6 points per game and 6.0 rebounds, while Carter averages 11.0 points per game and 5.1 rebounds.

Maine (19-9, 12-3) is led by Blanca Millan. Millan is averaging 17.9 points per game and 5.2 rebounds. Millan has made 88 steals in 28 games. Julie Brosseau is averaging 11.7 points per game, while Tanesha Sutton averages 11.4 points and 7.2 rebounds.

Maine lost the only meeting this year between the two teams back on January 13 at SEFCU Arena in Albany 68-54. Fequiere scored a career high 35 points in that game for the Great Danes.
