RICHMOND, Maine- The host Richmond Bobcats exploded for 11 first inning runs Friday afternoon, en route to a 20-6 five inning mercy rule shortened Class D South baseball win over Highview Christian Academy.

Richmond took advantage of four Highview errors in the bottom of the half of the first to bat around. Zach Rines and Matt Small each had three hits and three runs scored to lead the 2-0 Bobcats.

Highview took advantage of three bases loaded walks to put a five spot on the scoreboard in the second. Megan McDonald reached base three times, scoring twice. Noah Kepple took the loss on the mound allowing eight earned runs, but did score two runs to help the Knights offense.

Richmond travels to Vinalhaven Saturday for a doubleheader. Highview (0-1) travels for a matchup with Jonesport-Beals Tuesday.
