Olivia Smith and Kylie Kennedy powered the Husson University softball team to a 9-1 win over New England College in a North Atlantic Conference tournament game on Saturday afternoon at Husson. That sets up a winner take all championship game between the same two teams on Sunday afternoon at noon.
Smith had four hits (two doubles), two runs scored and one RBI. Kennedy had two hits and three RBI, including a homer. Jen Jones was masterful in the circle for the Eagles. She allowed one run on three hits and one walk, while striking out nine in a complete game effort.
Jones helped Husson stay alive with a complete game one hitter in a 1-0 Eagles win over Thomas earlier in the day.
