Big eighth inning gives Yankees win over Sox

The New York Yankees scored four runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Boston Red Sox 9-6 at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night.

Brett Gardner hit a two run triple and Aaron Judge hit a two run homer in that big eighth inning for the Yankees. Both those hits came off Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel.

Mitch Moreland, Andrew Benintendi, and Hanley Ramirez each hit a home run for the Red Sox. Xander Bogaerts had three hits, Rafael Devers and J.D Martinez had two each. Gardner and Judge each had three hits at the top of the Yankees lineup.

The game had six lead changes. The Yankees have a one game lead over the Red Sox in the American League East. The teams will play the series finale on Thursday night.
