Sale scuffles in Sox loss to Braves

Chris Sale (5-2)allowed six runs in 4.1 innings as the Boston Red Sox fell 7-1 to the Atlanta Braces at Fenway Park on Sunday afternoon.

Tyler Flowers drilled a three run homer off Sale in the second inning. Sale allowed five hits and three walks with eight strikeouts.

Mike Foltynewicz (4-3) didn’t allow a hit until Andrew Benintendi hit a double with one out in the sixth inning. Benintendi was the only Sox hitter to reach base twice. J.D. Martinez was not in the starting lineup. Mookie Betts was also removed from the lineup just prior to game time with left side tightness.

The Red Sox and Blue Jays will begin a three game series at Fenway Park on Memorial Day with a David Price VS Aaron Sanchez pitching matchup on tap. Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Betts will most likely not be in the lineup on Monday.
