For the first time in 39 years, the Eastern and Western Conference Finals of the NBA will be headed to a decisive game seven in the same season.
The last time this happened was in 1979, when the Washington Bullets played the then Eastern Conference San Antonio Spurs, and the Seattle Supersonics played the Phoenix Suns in the West.
On Sunday night, Lebron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers will take the TD Garden floor in Boston to play the host Celtics for the first game seven. The Celtics are 10-0 on their home floor during this years playoffs. James is averaging 34 points per game in the postseason, while also grabbing nine rebounds per game, and dishing out nine assists. Cleveland will be without Kevin Love, who suffered a concussion in a 10 point game six win for the Cavs. Boston will rely on some balanced scoring from Jaylen Brown (18.3 ppg), Jayson Tatum (18.2), Terry Rozier (17.2), and Al Horford (15.7). Boston will try to reach the finals for first time since 2008.
Then on Monday night, the defending World Champion Golden State Warriors take their shot at the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center in Houston for the second game seven. Golden State started slow in a game six win Saturday night at Oracle Arena in Golden State, falling behind by 17 points after one quarter and 10 at halftime before rallying for a 115-86 win to force the seventh game. The key for the Rockets will be the health of guard Chris Paul (CP3), who was hobbled by a hamstring injury and didnt play in game six. Houston will also rely heavily on James Harden who is averaging 27 points a game in playoffs, while Paul is at 20, and guard Eric Gordon puts up 18 a night. The Warriors will count on consistency from Kevin Durant (31.2 ppg), and Stephen Curry (23.8).
