Maine womens hockey extends head coach

University of Maine Interim Athletic Director Jim Settele announced on Thursday that Maine womens ice hockey head coach Richard Reichenbach has been given a three year contract extension.

Maine comes off the best season in program history in 2017-18, finishing with an overall record of 19-14-5 and an 11-9-4 mark in Hockey East play. The Bears were nationally ranked for six weeks, and also won their first ever playoff game and first ever playoff series win when it knocked off Boston University in the Hockey East quarterfinals. Maine went on to lose to eventual Hockey East champion Northeastern in the semifinal.

Reichenbach will begin his sixth season behind the bench when the 2018-19 campaign begins. At the end of last season Reichenbach also received New England Hockey Writers Division I Coach of the Year, as well as Hockey East Coach of the Year honors.
