Warriors crush Cavaliers to claim second straight NBA crown

June 9, 2018

Lebron James may of played his last game as a Cleveland Cavalier on Friday night. That is because the Golden State Warriors finished off a sweep of the NBA finals, leading by as many as 28 points in the clinching game and cruising to a 108-85 win in game four at the Quicken Loans Arena. The Warriors have now won back to back NBA titles, and three of the last four.

Rumors of James leaving Cleveland will now be the biggest talk of the offseason. James has been rumored to want to talk with Houston, Los Angeles (Lakers), Boston, and Philadelphia this summer. Lebron had 23 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists Friday night in a game that was never really close, where the Cavs held just one lead of a single point. Kevin Love added 13 points and nine rebounds, while JR Smith and Rodney Hood finished with 10 points a piece. Cleveland shot just 34 percent from the floor, and finish their season with a record of 62-42. The Cavs had to go the full seven games with their first and third round opponent to reach their fourth straight finals.

Stephen Curry led all scorers with 37 points (7-15 three point range), and also added six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and three blocks. Kevin Durant had a triple double with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. Durant was named the finals MVP, where he averaged 28.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 7.5 assists. Andre Iguodola had 11 points, and Klay Thompson 10 to round out the double digit scorers. Golden State shot 45 percent from the floor, including 14-38 from three point range. The visitors held a nine point halftime lead, but turned it on in the third quarter outscoring the Cavs 25-13 to blow it open. The Warriors final overall record is 74-29, going 16-5 in the playoffs to claim back to back world titles.
