The Boston Red Sox fell 8-5 at Toronto on Thursday night. Despite the loss that snapped a six game winning streak, Mookie Betts stole the show.
Betts became the fifth Red Sox player in the last 20 years to hit for the cycle and the first since Brock Holt in 2015. Betts capped the cycle with a homer off Ken Giles in the ninth inning. Betts reached base five times as he also walked.
Rick Porcello (14-5) struggled, allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks, while striking out five in four innings. Eduardo Nunez had three hits and two RBI. JD Martinez hit his league leading 35th homer. The Red Sox will open up a four game series at Baltimore on Friday night with a Nathan Eovaldi/Dylan Bundy pitching matchup scheduled.
