Boys soccer- PVHS 2 Bangor Christian 0

September 27, 2018

At Howland, the visiting Patriots came in having won the past 7 meetings over the Howlers. The game went scoreless for the first 30+ minutes. At the 8:02 mark, Bradon Blish kicked a goal kick to mid-field, where Grant Kidon settled it.  Kidon quickly pushed the ball through to Brad McKechnie near the 18-yard line, where McKechnie got separation from the defender and put the ball in the left side of the net for the score.  The score remained 1-0 at halftime.

Halfway through the second, Penobscot Valley struck again.  This attack started back near their own 18, where Zach Doore sent a long ball up the sideline to McKechnie.  Brad raced up the line and toward the corner of the 18, split two defenders, and buried it past the goalie.  McKechnie’s two goals would be the difference, as PVHS won 2-0.

Elijah Wood saved 12 of 16 shots for the Howlers, while Jeremiah McNally stopped 10 of 21 for Bangor Christian.  PV improves to 8-1 and will face Searsport at home (homecoming) on Saturday, while the 4-4-1 Patriots will host Greenville on Monday.
