Penobscot Valley used a powerful offensive attack to beat Penquis 11-2 in girls soccer action on Saturday afternoon. Lexi Ireland energized the Howlers early with her goal 56 seconds into the game. Ireland would go on to score three more in the first half, and two in the second half to finish with six goals on the afternoon. She also added an assist. The balance of the scoring came from Natalie Spencer with two, and Lauren Reed, Emilty St. Cyr, and Delaney Theriault scoring one each. Brianna Moon and Leine McKecknie controlled the midfield, with Moon recording three assists, and McKechnie one. Lauren Reed added two assist, and Delaney Theriault had one. The Holwers improve to 10-0-1 and keeper Emilee Ireland made ninebsaves on 15 shots. Ireland’s best save of the day came on a Cymeria Robshaw breakaway late in the game. For Penquis, Robshaw scored both goals, and keepers Rachel McManus and Katelyn Bolstridge combined for 16 saves on 36 shots. Penquis drops to 5-4-2 on the year. The two team rematch next week in Milo.
