At Milo on Saturday, Penobscot Valley and Penquis met in what is always a great end of season battle. Field conditions were favorable despite the earlier rain this week. Both teams were scoreless through 40 minutes, with the Howlers having the shot advantage 15-6. In the second half, Penquis jumped out to the early 2nd half lead when Lauren Bolstridge shot a Camryn Rolfe pass just beyond the reach of a diving Emilee Ireland in goal. The lead proved to be short lived as Lexi Ireland tied the game when she converted a pass from Lauren Reed. Brianna Moon scored the game winner for Penobscot Valley on a Leine McKechnie assist. The Howlers opened the game up with two more goals from Lexi Ireland as well as her assist on a Emily St. Cyr goal. Ireland’s hat trick would bring her to 36 goals on the season. The game would finish 5-2, with Penquis’ Brooke McKenzie heading in a cross from Camryn Rolfe. Howler keeper Emilee Ireland finished with 10 saves on 13 shots as they improve to 12-0-1. Penquis drops to 5-6-2 and goalie Katelyn Bolstridge recorded 12 saves on 27 shots.
