Eovaldi and the long ball spark Sox to game three win over Astros

Nathan Eovaldi pitched six strong innings and the Red Sox had two big home runs in an 8-2 win at Houston in game three of the ALCS on Tuesday evening.

The Red Sox jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi, and JD Martinez started the game with hits. The hit by Martinez was a run scoring double.

Steve Pearce gave the Red Sox a 3-2 lead when he smacked a home run in the sixth inning. Ryan Brasier pitched a scoreless seventh inning, including recording a big out against Alex Bregman with a runner in scoring position. The Red Sox broke open the game in the eighth inning when Astros closer Roberto Osuna hit pinch hitter Brock Holt to load the bases, Osuna followed that with hitting pinch hitter Mitch Moreland to force home a run. Jackie Bradley JR sealed the game with a grand slam. It is the second consecutive game Bradley has had a big hit with the bases loaded.

The Red Sox hold a 2-1 series lead. Game four is scheduled for Wednesday night at 8:39 PM with a Rick Porcello vs Charlie Morton pitching matchup.
