Bruins drop first two games of road trip

After losing opening night in Washington, the Boston Bruins had won four straight games prior to the first extended road trip of the season that includes three games in four nights that started with back to back Wednesday and Thursday night games that ended in losses.

Wednesday night, the Calgary Flames broke out to a 3-0 lead after one period, and went on for a 5-2 win over Boston to break the four game win streak. Michael Flolik, Johnny Geaudreau, and Juuso Valimaki scored 10:34 apart in that three goal first period for Calgary. Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand scored the Bruins goals, while Tuuka Rask lost in net making 24 saves on 28 shots.

Thursday night, Boston had a 1-0 second period lead on a David Krejci goal, then got a third period goal by David Pastrnak to tie it after falling behind 2-1 to Edmonton. The Oilers however would win it just 37 seconds into overtime on a game winner by Leon Draisaitl to send the Bruins to their second straight loss. Jaroslav Halak made 19 saves on 22 shots in the loss.

Boston (4-2-1) continues the Canadian trip with a stop in Vancouver Saturday night at 10 pm, before traveling to play on road at Ottawa on Tuesday at 7:30 pm before returning back home .
