Maine women breeze past Stonehill in preseason tuneup

Blanca Millan scored 30 points Saturday afternoon, as the University of Maine women’s basketball team raced past Division II Stonehill College 85-46 in a preseason exhibition contest at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Millan added six rebounds and six steals, and hit five three pointers for Maine. Dor Saar had 17 points, seven assists, and also made five three pointers. Tanesha Sutton and Maddy McVicar also scored 13 points a piece.

The Bears forced 21 Skyhawk turnovers, scoring 31 points off the miscues. Maine shot 50 percent from the floor, including 12-26 (46.2%) from behind the three point arc.

Stonehill, who is ranked 19th in the country in the Division II pre-season poll, got eight points from Kayla Raymond and seven from Maty Diabate.

The Black Bears open their regular season next Saturday, November 10th when they host Toledo at 1 pm.
